1 Hours: Transfer to Materuni Village
Your guide and driver will pick you up in Moshi around 9 am and drive for 45 minutes to an authentic Chaga village Materuni, lying on the edge of Kilimanjaro National Park. The Chaga are the third largest tribe of over 120 tribes existing in Tanzania, and most of them live on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.
2 Hours: Materuni Coffee Tour
After you’ve registered at the village office, your adventure can start. The tour starts in the coffee plantations of the local Chagga tribe, where the villagers will demonstrate some of the processes involved in coffee farming and handling and give you a chance to participate in preparing the coffee beans and making your own coffee from A to Z. Local style, of course! An opportunity to see how local fruit, including avocados, mangos, lemons and bananas grow, as well as learn some of the local history and traditions.
2 Hours: Materuni Waterfalls Coffee
Then, you will visit Materuni waterfalls walking for about 45 minutes over narrow paths through lush vegetation. Hike through the foothills overshadowed by Mt Kilimanjaro to themajestic Waterfalls. On a clear day you might see Kilimanjaro, but even if you don’t we’re sure you won’t be disappointed. A swim in the waters of the fall and lunch amidst the beauties of African nature conclude the tour.
1 Hours: Transfer back to Moshi Town
In the afternoon leave the Materuni village and transfer back to your hotel in Moshi Town.
